Last year I made 3 large expedition duffel bags for two adventure addicted kiwis that took part in the Yukon 1000. It's dubbed the world's longest paddle race and 1000 miles down the Yukon river. This year they are doing it all over again and have asked if I could make them a tough and light bow bag each for their kayak. These custom made kayak bow bags are what I come up with for them.
Made in ultra 200 and 400 on the base. I seam taped the best I could, but it's hard on curves to get a water tight seal so I would only call them water resistant. Large compartment with two smaller ones each side, water resistant YKK zips, large tabs and zipper pulls for easy access with cold wet hands, shock cord on top and a small ultra stretch pocket for bits they will need all the time, i expect bug spray from what I remember from my trip up in northern Canada. They came in at only 150g each but still have to work out the attachments. Most likely some form of G-hook or carabiner.
I could see these working well as a detachable front pocket on my large 85L packs for packrafting. May have to give one a try myself.
